Last week against Doncaster East all three teams managed to be competitive but only our reserves team was able to come away with a win. The U19's started slow in the wet slippery conditions with Doncaster East managing to get a good score on the board in the first quarter setting them up for the game. Despite the difference in the scoreline the 19's really battled hard for four quarters and can be proud of their efforts, best players R.Hardy, L.Mumford, C.White and B.Harrington.

The reserves game turned out to be the lowest scoring game we have seen for a while, they started well but were inaccurate in front of goal scoring just a single goal in the first term while Doncaster East managed 6 behinds! The second and third quarters were much the same with each side kicking inaccurately and going into the last quarter each side had scored just two goals with Doncaster East holding a 1 point margin. With some great midfield work from Bradbury and Millar in the wet slippery conditions our forwards managed to get some reward and kicked 6 goals in the final term to seal the win by 27 points, best players J.Bradbury, K.Millar, M.Grubb and A.Waterhouse.

The seniors were confident going into the game after a solid week on the training track, our midfield were winning the stoppages and defensively we were on top limiting the Doncaster East forwards giving us a slim 4 point lead at the first break. We didn't keep the pressure on in the second quarter and allowed Doncaster East to kick five goals to our one giving them a handy three goal lead at the main break. We regrouped a little in the third term but played nowhere near our best football and allowed them to kick goals easily from the stoppages and turnovers in their forward line. Going into the last would require a huge effort to close the gap and our players proved they were capable and up to the challenge kicking 5 goals to close the gap to just seven points at the final siren. Close losses are the most frustrating and we must continue to work on our four quarter efforts across all teams.
Today we welcome all past veteran players as they celebrate their first of three premiership reunions, let’s be competitive and get a win – Go Waters!!
